Author of Children's Books, Memoirs, and Travel Stories
Jackson City Orphans gives us a glimpse into a forgotten bygone era that should never be forgotten and provides a bit of missing history in the saga of a black family's plight during segregation in the Old South. This book shows how some black families persevered against all odds. The life of the Ashford family, and the main character, little Mike, will intrigue you to tears and laughter, and you will be mesmerized by how little Mike saw into his future even against the dark backdrop of racism.
Jackson City Orphans is an excellent read for children and youth. It gives poignant examples of common problems that young people from every generation face and inspires the spirit to overcome them.
This book is the first of a series of nighttime stories about my early years as told to my children. The idea is to create stories that are both educational and fun. The stories are based on actual events and facts.
To say that I am proud of the author of this book would be a complete understatement. I have seen firsthand the reality of his memoirs through a life well lived, from the first stroke of the keyboard to the insightful autobiographical novel it has become. I have witnessed the humor and the drama of this incredible story growing up with this extraordinary man.
